PROFILE/BIO

Fabian Clark, Co-Founder Quarter, Entrepreneur, Accountant, and Marketing Guru.

Fabian Clark, along with his co-founder Rohan Radhakrishnan, founded Quarter as a lower alcohol alternative to the high ABV spirits that were the only option. Developing a gin that has just 12% ABV – significantly less than the minimum 37.5% ABV of other gins – they launched the brand in 2021 and are going from strength to strength.

Quarter received support from Virgin Startup and even won a competition to showcase their products at Specialty Fine Food Fair. You can also see Fabian and Rohan on UK's Dragons Den (UK Shark Tank).

1 – IF YOU COULD ONLY TWEET ONE PIECE OF ADVICE ON CAREERS, WHAT WOULD IT BE?

We had a great discussion during the interviews for A Career Carol. Lots of distilled wisdom from Drs Schuster & Oxley and good exploration of my own experience and journey. So, I feel reasonably well equipped to answer this. I’d go with “Ask yourself what you would do if you had endless amounts of money? What would you do…. how would you spend your time? Cross off all the answers that are temporary, more frivolous answers, and center in on the enduring ideas. The ones that might sustain you for the rest of your life. Now, ask yourself how you can make your profession include as much of that as possible.”

2 – WHAT WAS IT LIKE TO WORK WITH DRS SCHUSTER & OXLEY ON A CAREER CAROL?

Really cool and surprisingly energizing. We don’t get time to talk with two experts on people, organizations, and personal impact very often. So really the two big reflections for me were (1) getting to share my experience and thoughts on successful careers for the book and hope that helps others, but also, (2) getting some pragmatic, relevant, and, at times quite entertaining, personal coaching. I did feel a bit lighter and energized afterwards.

3 – DO YOU HAVE A FAVORITE BOOK WHICH HAS HELPED YOU IN YOUR CAREER OR PERSONAL FULFILLMENT?

I love books that tell the tales of successful entrepreneurs such as Phil Knight’s Shoe Dog, Danny Meyer’s Setting the Table and Yvon Chouinard’s Let My People Go Surfing. They all encapsulate the drive and energy that goes into building a business.

4 – WHO DO YOU FIND THE MOST INSPIRING PUBLIC FIGURE?

I’m a keen runner and find Eliud Kipchoge’s drive, determination and humility are inspiring. He continues to push boundaries but does not get lost in the fame of it and he has a sense of greater purpose to him.

5 – HOW DO YOU UNWIND AND RELAX?

Running is the vice that lets me completely remove myself from work and process any stress from the day. I also enjoy a drink (obviously Quarter is my preference) with friends to discuss and work through problems.

BONUS QUESTION 6 – IF YOU WERE GRANTED ONE PROFESSIONAL WISH…HOW WOULD YOU USE IT?

I want to have some sort of legacy. It sounds a bit grand, however, if I wanted to solely make money then I would’ve gone into banking. It would be great to create something that stands the test of time and you’re remembered for it.
